A while back the city announced that they were moving forward with the Jackson Avenue Beautification project. Jackson Avenue would have these beautiful deviders with Trees, plants & sculptures similar to Park Avenue, the sidewalks would be wider, more trees and pathways would be added in addition to bikelanes, benches and Street Lights, making Jackson Avenue more pedestrian friendly. Well that time has come, things are really picking up and you can now see the changes occuring, i walk to work everyday and i see a new devider being installed or sidewalks being expanded. Along the Court Square area, they have already expanded some parts of the sidewalks by about 2 feet, a new island has been created near Citi Bank and Sovereign Bank, walk up Jackson Avenue and you will see around 30-40 new bases for street lights, they have also started created sidewalk islands for trees as well as a new bus stop along Jackson & Court Square , The deviders are quite nice, there are already three in progress with a couple that is already filled with soil, the first one ironically was constructed along the block of Dutch Kills, (wonder if Sasha had any pull with the city) They have also added an island and trees along the Pulaski Bridge, this along with the 1.5 acre park in Queens Plaza is really changing the profile of this part of town. completion is scheduled to be complete by September 2010… But it looks like the Court Square and Jackson Avenue is about to give Hunters Point a run for there money…

Long Island City's The View Going Rental!!!

nowrenting3 Long Island City's The View Going Rental!!!

Well not exactly, the developers of the view are only releasing 30 units for rent. That’s right! Now, you too, can live in a superlux condo without shelling out all the bucks for it…We have been prepping for the relaunch of our blog, but when we got this juicy little story, we couldn’t help but go live with it… Prices range from $2,440 for a 1 bedroom to a three bedrooms for $7,500 per month… And these are No Fee units

. The units at The View are still for sale and still offering 110% money back guarantee. Could this be LIC’s first condo gone rental? Well sort of - the other ones seem to be doing fine. Although there is some chatter of one condo building

that might go rental. We at OuterB will be back with more on that plus other cool stuff that will be happening throughout Queens, Brooklyn and we might even occasionally have some scoop on Money Makin Manhattan as well… stay tuned.

Eric Benaim

Stay Tuned!!!

OuterB will be back in full effect later on this month with a brand new revamped design, restaurant and business profiles, menus and much more…. Covering all the ins and outs of Queens

, Brooklyn and occasionally Manhattan…

Back to bloggin…

OuterB has been M.I.A. the last few months, but we are preparing for a relaunch very soon, so keep an eye out for the all new improved OuterB

See you soon…

2007 Review at OuterB

Wild RosesA lot of Queens news crossed our desks this past year at OuterB, and we wrote about a lot of it. Here are some of our favorites, and then some:

This year, as in most years, Astoria/LIC (including Dutch Kills) got a lot of attention, along with Flushing, Jackson Heights, and Forest Hills. Western Queens is where most of the new development is happening, apart from Flushing.

There were many points of contention in Queens this year. Most notable were:

Probably the dumbest thing we heard this year was Barbara Corcoran’s suggestion that people pave over their gardens! Second dumbest thing: the idea of putting a parking lot over the Grand Central Parkway

.

Pistilli, with his ugly developments, became the developer people loved to hate in Astoria. Arris lofts was hated all over the internet! Ugly boxy out of character buildings were hated, too.

What did people love? The expansion of the Queens Museum of Art. Tours of historic homes and neighborhoods

. New developments in LIC (but buyer beware regarding your view). Talking about parking. Maison Tropicale. Jackson Heights over Park Slope (more Park less Slope). Access to great ethnic food. And in general, living in Queens - there are many of all ages and backgrounds that love our fair borough and couldn’t imagine living anywhere else.

Happy New Year and see you in 2008!
