Ozone Park, Another Great Place to Live

The Queens Courier did a nice writeup on Ozone Park. It’s a community of immigrants, originally Irish and Italian, but now populated with Hispanic and Asian as well. Lots of detatched and semi-detatched homes built in the early 20th century, that are priced well. Apparently the founders of the area called it Ozone Park to invoke fresh air and seabreezes.  Ozone doesn’t mean that anymore!  Still, it sounds like a very nice community.

Most Expensive Condos in Queens - Ozone Park??

8 1 Most Expensive Condos in Queens Ozone Park??This weekend there are open houses at three  of the most expensive condominiums in Queens.

The first I can stomach - the Citylights building in Long Island City. Corcoran is listing a 3-bedroom at $560,000, a 1-bedroom at $425,000.  The building is right on the water, great local restaurants, one subway stop to Midtown.

The second seems a little irrational, but still bound to earth - the Shore Towers in Astoria, $549000 for a 2-bedroom.  Again, great views of Manhattan, good neighborhood, but a tougher commute and an older and less prestigious building.

But the third is just bizarre. $550,140 for a 3-bedroom in Ozone Park? $495,000 for a one-bedroom?   What?  It’s Magnolia Court, a gated community off of Cross Bay Blvd.  When listed neighborhood amenities include a Staples, it’s time to admit this is bubble pricing. Throw in all the marble sinks you can, but $495,00 for a one-bedroom in Ozone Park? I don’t think so.
